Nichol Beckstrand is the owner and founder of YardHomesMN. As a lifelong banker she understands the challenges with financing affordable housing. Her entire banker career she also focused her work in the affordable housing space by creating creative financing tools for the single family mortgage arena and worked with New Markets Tax credit programs to create more affordable rental opportunities. Nichol Beckstrand recently completed a one-year stint with the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association (MHA). While at the association Nichol focused on rebranding the organization to put a central focus of rental as a legitimate form of “home”. This includes a new manifesto statement, brand logo, website and brand journalism story. In addition, to repositioning the organization they started to focus on delivering innovation as a service to her members. Many of these new innovation ideas such as research around modular housing and technologies that will bridge low income renters with units have carried into the next phase of her life.
