An innovative Approach to ADU’s, Social Services & Home Ownership

The delivery of Affordable Housing requires many different arena’s to come together perfectly in order for the Housing to be creative. For example the land must be purchased at a price that is either free or greatly reduced from market value. City requirements for licensing need to be minimal to control costs. Building labor and materials need to be acquired at appropriate price points and of course the overall project needs to appraise appropriately to ensure financing can occur with the right terms. It takes a huge collaborative effort. Collaboration is key in Affordable Housing. When everyone performs their role with narrow margin for error risk can be mitigated and magic can happen. I will share with you the YardHomesMN Y-HELP (YardHomesMN- Housing Enabling Lease Program) which brings together nonprofit partners (or philanthropic people) with land and voucher tenants in a program that doubles down its impact to the land owner over time.
